Fluke für Mac

Fluke was once a good idea but it's long gone. For anyone interested, there are apps that play FLAC such as Cog (even if it hasn't been updated for years, it's 64 bits and still runs on 10.9.5) and Vox, amongst others.

HELP cant add my musikfolder to itunes or dont know how. tried dragging the whole musik orden onto the fluke symbol in "programms" but that just copies my musikfolder into the programmsfolder dragging it into itunes doesnt work either.. got fluke 2.5 itunes 10.6.1 snowleopard ..???????????

It is a pity that Fluke does NOT work with Mountain Lion. And to make matters worse, it looks like the development has stopped. Fluke still works with Lion and lower. But make sure you have the xiph qt decoders installed. (They must be downloaded and installed separately). And for Lion users, make sure you are running iTunes in 32-bit mode. (Right Click on iTunes in the Applications folder and click on Run in 32-bit mode".)

I wonder how many people miss the fact that they may need the Xiph QuickTime Decoders http://xiph.org/quicktime/download.html in order to Fluke to work properly. I had several issues, but missed that I had previously installed Xiph in the main /Library/Components folder in my former system and not in my user ~/Library/Components folder. That is where I put this component As soon as I had installed the "XiphQT 0.1.9 (Mac OS X, only decoders)" in my fresh and updated Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard system, Fluke 0.2.5b started to work again. Xiph requires QT 7. If you want to retain the FLAC-file for whatever reason Fluke is indispensable. Fluke should be distributed with a link to Xiph! Macupdate, please add this vital requirement!

Fluke is a nice software Though FLAC is open-source and royalty-free format, it is not a compatible audio format with iTunes and with all Apple devices. In order to import FLAC to iTunes, a recommended solution is to convert FLAC to Apple friendly audio formats so that you can play FLAC with iTunes, iPad, the new iPad 3, iPhone and iPod, etc. If you care the quality of the output audio, converting FLAC to Apple Lossless audio is recommended. If you do not care about the quality of the music, you can convert FLAC to MP3, a versatile audio format across system and devices then import the converted FLAC files to iTunes.
